Common questions

Do I need an account?
No. The scorer runs in the browser. Players, the match in progress, and match history sit in local storage on that phone. Sign-in is optional.
What does Google sign-in do?
It attaches the scorebook on that phone to your Google account and keeps saved players and finished matches in sync across devices you sign in on. The first time you link a phone that already has matches, the app asks you to keep that history. It merges. It does not throw away the phone’s matches. Signing out stops the sync. The copy on the phone stays. Details are on the Privacy Policy.
What is a sync code?
A code such as ABCD-1234 is a shared scorebook for people who do not want a Google account. Creating or linking a code stores saved players and finished matches under that code. Anyone with the code can read and change that book, so treat it like a password. It is not a live view of the rack being played. The rack in progress stays on the phone that is marking it.
What is a guest?
A guest is an opponent you do not want in your player list. Their name and points still work for the match on the table. They are left out of career stats and out of the saved-player list.
I tapped the wrong ball.
Tap Undo. It steps back one action, including a mistaken 9-ball prompt. If the match already ended, undo past the winning ball and the match is live again.
The 9 fell on a foul. Why won’t Dead Ball take it?
In this format a 9 pocketed on a foul is spotted, not left down. The app will not mark the 9 dead. Spot it and keep playing. Other balls that fell on the foul are dead: tap Dead Ball, tap those numbers, then tap Dead Ball again.
Does the app call balls or fouls?
No. Nothing is called in this scoring format, and the app does not referee. It does not know whether the cue ball hit the lowest ball first, whether a shot was a push, or whether a safety was legal. You mark the result you and your opponent agreed on. There is no push-out control and no three-foul counter, because the Rules tab describes a format that uses neither.
Who breaks the next rack?
Whoever pocketed the 9. The app sets that player as the breaker and puts them at the table. You do not re-enter the lag. The lag only picks the first breaker.
Can I move the match to another phone halfway through?
Not automatically. Finished matches and player lists travel with Google or a sync code. The open rack does not. Finish the rack on the phone you started it on, or re-enter the current score on the other phone. A reload of the same phone is safe.
How do I get my history off the phone?
The History tab can export a file. Clear History deletes saved matches on the phone and, if you are linked, in the Google scorebook or the shared code as well. To have a cloud copy removed completely after that, use Contact.
Is this an official league app?
No. 9-Ball Scores is an independent scorekeeper made by a pool player in Missouri. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any league. The charts match the sheet the app was built to keep. Your league’s written rules and the people at your table still decide a dispute.
