Scoring guides
Updated October 31, 2026
These pages explain the scoresheet the app keeps. They are written for someone marking a match on a phone at the table, not as a substitute for your league’s rulebook. If your league’s sheet or a referee disagrees with a page here, follow the league.
9-Ball Scores is an independent scorekeeper. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any pool league or governing body.
- How the points race works Ball values, the skill-level chart, dead balls, fouls, innings, and defensive shots, walked through one rack at a time.
- Reading the 20-point match split Why a match is always 20 points, how to use the loser’s skill level and points, and three finished matches with the arithmetic shown.
- Keeping a match in the app Setup, what each button does, and the three different ways the app treats a pocketed 9-ball.
- Common questions Accounts, guests, undo, sync codes, what is stored on the phone, and what the app deliberately does not decide for you.
What changed on the site
- October 31, 2026. Added these guides, a contact page, and a sitemap. The scorer itself was not redesigned.
- October 29, 2026. The same advertising script already used on the scorer was added to About and Privacy.
- October 19, 2026. The public name became 9-Ball Scores. About, Privacy, and ads.txt were added. One ad sits under the scorer header and hides itself when there is nothing to show.
